Singaporean citizens, Permanent Residents and expatriates #
You are eligible to apply to hire a maid as long as they are:
- 21 years old and above
- Not be a undischarged bankrupt
- Legally bankrupt but still has outstanding unpaid debts
- Have the mental capacity to fully understand and discharge your responsibility as an employer
– E.g. An individual medically diagnosed with dementia will not be able to an employer - Sufficient financial ability to maintain the upkeep of the helper throughout the contract
- Acceptable accommodation
For expatriate employers, you will also need to prepare the following:
- Holding a valid employment/work pass
- Worked in Singapore at least for 3 months. If you have not started work, an official statement or signed contract may be sufficient.
All items mentioned above are subjected to MOM approval.
