The employer is required to buy a $5000 security bond from either a bank or insurance for each helper employed.
This represents as a pledge to the government that if the employer breaches the law, work permit conditions or security bond conditions, this security bond be utilised.

- If you use the maid for business-related work
- If you fail to pay the maid’s salary on time
- If you fail to pay for repatriation, when maid’s work permit is not longer in effect and not transferred to another employer
- If you are unable to locate the whereabouts of your maid helper for the past few days and the police is involved for assistance
Examples: Will kick-in 50% #
- The helper slips out of the house in secrecy resulting in the employer’s failure to repatriate and if the employer invested reasonable efforts to locate the helper.
Examples: will Not kick-in #
- Maid gets herself pregnant
